Navigator Dashboard Buddy

Everyone's car has the pile. Phone, sunnies, a pen that works, the tissues, a handful of receipts you keep meaning to deal with. It migrates from the console to the passenger seat and ends up in the footwell on the first roundabout.

The Dashboard Buddy gives it a home. It's a flat tray that mounts on your dash with genuine Velcro Brand adhesive, so it sits exactly where you put it and stays there over corrugations, speed humps and the rough stuff. At 24cm by 17cm there's genuine room, not just a token spot for your phone, and everything stays in reach without you having to look away from the road to find it.

It earns its keep most on long drives and in a working vehicle. Anyone who tows knows the ritual of pulling over to retrieve something off the floor, and anyone who's reached around for sunglasses at the wrong moment knows why that's worth avoiding.

Velcro Brand is worth noting, since adhesive is the only thing that matters on a product like this. The cheap versions let go on the first hot day, and an Australian dashboard in summer is about as hostile as adhesive gets.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Will it stick to my dashboard?
It uses genuine Velcro Brand adhesive and works best on a flat or gently sloped dash. Give the surface a proper clean with something that removes dust and any interior spray residue before you fit it, since that's what causes most adhesive failures.

Will it survive an Australian summer?
This is why the Velcro Brand backing matters. Cheap adhesive lets go once a dash gets properly hot, which in a car parked in the sun means well above 60 degrees. Genuine Velcro holds up considerably better.

How big is it?
24cm wide by 17cm deep, which is a real surface rather than a phone-sized ledge. Enough for your phone, your sunnies and the usual bits all at once.

Can I take it off and move it?
It's designed to go on and stay put. Velcro adhesive is strong, so moving it means some fiddling and a mark where it was. Have a proper think about placement before you commit, particularly around your line of sight and your airbag.

Will things slide off when I corner?
The tray has a lip and it's designed to hold everyday items in normal driving. It's not a sealed container though, so on properly rough tracks or hard braking a loose phone can still shift.

Does it come with the accessories shown?
No, the tray only. The tissues, sunglasses and other items in the photos are there to show scale.

🌟 Adventure Awaits Tip

Fit this one before a long trip rather than during it, so the adhesive has a chance to set properly before the corrugations start. Have a browse through the full Navigator Gear range for more
