Chaste Tree Berry | Vitex Agnus Castus

Intentions: Fidelity, Fertility, and Connection with divine feminine energy.

Vitex Agnus Castus, also known as Chaste Tree Berry or Monk’s Pepper, is a magical ritual herb with a rich history in traditional herbal practices. Traditionally used as a way to suppress sexual desires, they were carried by medieval monks to kill their carnal urges and keep their minds pure. In modern times, witches use the chaste berries to control their lovers' ability to sexually perform, keeping them from cheating and straying to others. They are also the perfect addition to curse workings to stop your target from reaching pleasure or being able to get an erection.

Moroccan traditions saw it as a tool for passion and vitality, and it is linked to both chastity and virility/fertility depending on intention.

It’s ideal for fertility spells, rituals for emotional healing, and ceremonies that mark new beginnings. Place its leaves or berries on your altar to enhance intention-setting, purification, and psychic awareness. Burn it as incense to amplify focus during meditation or divination.

Include it in mojo bags to strengthen personal power, attract harmony, or support vows of commitment - whether to a path, deity, or practice.

Vitex Agnus Castus aligns beautifully with rituals that celebrate renewal, making it ideal for Sabbats like Imbolc and Beltane.
