Tourmalinated Quartz also called rutilated quartz, combines clear crystal quartz with black tourmaline, creating strands visible throughout the quartz stone. Its name derives from a combination of the two elements - crystal quartz and tourmaline - into a single entity, termed "tourmalinated." Tourmalated quartz is purported to provide protection from unfavourable mental states and emotions. It can be thought of as possessing a vitality that enables an individual to access other energy fields. Tourmalated quartz is thought to provide a balancing of yin/yang energies and release negative patterns. 

Tourmalinated Quartz is thought to be an exceptionally protective stone that aids with spiritual growth. Tourmalated Quartz is reputed to aid in overcoming mental, emotional, and spiritual blockages. Tourmalinated Quartz is widely believed to promote communication, both among people and with the divine realms, and is thought to foster strength and balance.
